Molonglo Valley suburb commemorates movers and shakers

The streets of new suburb Denman Prospect are named after people and places linked to activism and reform.

Advocate for women’s rights Ada Norris and Feminist and civil libertarian Julia Trubridge-Freebury both have streets named after them. The Eureka Stockade and the Queensland town of Barcaldine, famous for its role in the 1891 Shearers’ Strike, are also commemorated with street names in the new suburb. More on Canberra’s place names is available here.
