Building surveyors have very important roles in the ACT building regulatory system, including to act as building certifiers for building work.
The code sets out minimum standards of practice for building surveyors when they are undertaking licensable functions.
The code includes general obligations, such as to act in the public interest, as well as specific requirements for carrying out stage inspections and other functions, handling complaints and keeping records. It can also help inform the community about what they can expect from their building certifier, and better understand the certifier’s role in the building process.
The code will start on 1 September 2019.
