The Government may consider direct sale applications for:

  • standalone (non-adjoining) blocks of land sold at market value to commercial organisations
  • adjoining land sold to existing Crown lease holders
  • direct sales to Government (Territory, Territory entity, or Commonwealth entity) or
  • community organisations who have successfully participated in an expression of interest and invited to lodge a direct sale application.

When a direct sale application is received, the Government will first decide if it wants to sell the land and then decide if selling the land directly to the applicant is the appropriate way to sell the land.

Sale of land to community organisations

The Government sells land for community use through a two-stage sales process, firstly by calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from eligible community organisations.

Alternatives to direct sale

There are other ways to buy land or rent space to support your business or activity. These include:

  • land purchase via a public auction, tender or land ballot run by the Suburban Land Agency
  • renting a space in a Government-owned facility
  • renting space in a privately owned facility
  • sharing the space with another organisation
  • Participating in a government led expression of interest (EOI) process.
