Macarthur House Demolition
The ACT Government is selling some of its ageing buildings, including Macarthur House, as part of the Federal Government's Asset Recycling Initiative. The Macarthur House site is expected to be sold in the 2018/19 financial year, following the demolition of the existing building.
Redevelopment of the site is a key element of the ACT Government's urban renewal plan to help revitalise the city centre and Northbourne Avenue.
The first step in the process is demolishing the buildings on site and preparatory works have already commenced. The demolition of the building is scheduled for completion in early 2019, noting that dates may change due to unforeseen circumstances, including wet weather.
