Road construction

The Planning and Land Authority is involved in new road construction projects — particularly during the feasibility study and forward design phase.

Proposed new road constructions usually require a development application. They sometimes need an environmental impact statement (EIS) and/or a Commonwealth strategic assessment under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Environmental processes involve consultation with the community, while development applications of this nature are notified.

The Planning and Land Authority is also responsible for notifying the public about proposed road closures.

There are currently no public consultations at this time.
