Location
The Public Housing Renewal Taskforce identified two sites in the Gungahlin Town Centre to be developed for public housing. The sites in Gungahlin are on proposed Commercial Zoned-land.
Development
Design
- The development at Block 1 Section 248 Gungahlin Town Centre East comprises 32 dwellings in a multi-unit development and 7 townhouses for DHA.
- The development at Block 4 Section 249 Gungahlin Town Centre East comprises 32 dwellings in a multi-unit development and 8 townhouses for DHA.
Construction completed on these sites in mid-2019.
The Taskforce also constructed properties for Defence Housing Australia on two sites in the Town Centre. These developments will promote a greater social mix with new public housing adjacent to housing for Australian Defence Force members and their families, providing quality housing that is integrated into the wider community, just like all new public housing being developed across Canberra.
