The Demonstration Housing Project aims to test and showcase how we can deliver a compact and active city through innovative planning, design and delivery.
The Demonstration Housing Project is been run in two streams, projects with a site and projects without a site.
The Demonstration Housing ‘with a site’ stream is for proponents who own a site and have a demonstration housing concept they want to deliver.
In November, Lea Durie (EPSDD Urban Renewal, Executive Branch Manager and Chair of the Demonstration Housing Evaluation Panel) presented on the Demonstration Housing Project at the International Urban Design Conference held in Hobart. Lea showcased the innovations that the Demonstration Housing Project is achieving, including the uniqueness of the project itself; the project’s immediate and longer-term outcomes; an overview of the successful Demonstration Housing proposals; and the lessons learnt to date. The presentation was enthusiastically received by the audience and we have had some post-conference questions, highlighting the interest in this innovative project.
The Demonstration Housing Project team were thrilled to win in the category of ‘Improving Planning Processes and Practices’. All Award winners now progress to the National Awards, to be announced at the 2020 PIA National Congress in Adelaide.
