The ACT Government is updating its digital planning systems to better support Canberra’s growth.
The current eDevelopment system has been used for many years. It will be replaced with a new, modern system that is designed to offer improved usability and reliability.
The new system will help with all parts of the planning process. From lodging and checking applications, to advice, notifications and inspections.
What’s changing
This upgrade reflects the ACT Government’s focus on delivering planning services that aim to be more efficient and responsive. We are working with government, industry and the community to help create a system that supports different needs and aligns with current planning requirements.
The new system will bring together:
- Development applications and approvals
- Planning advice and notifications
- Building approvals and inspections
- Crown lease management
- Environmental impact checks
These changes are intended to support more streamlined processes and encourage collaboration across government and industry. Other government teams are also making changes to work with the new system and respond to feedback from industry.
Training and education
To support the commencement of the new system, the ACT Government will be developing a training and education package to help the community and industry.
