The public register records information on various planning assessments and approvals but is primarily for development applications (DA).
Read the Register
You can browse current and decided DAs online, where nearly all documentation is available.
The full public register is available to view on request at Access Canberra's Land Planning and Building Shopfront. To do this, contact the shopfront before you visit and let them know:
- the relevant application number
- the block, section and suburb, or
- street address.
You can also ask for copies of, or take extracts from, the register and associated documents. You won't need to pay to inspect the register, but you'll have to pay for copies of any documents you request.
Excluded documents
The public register is available for inspection subject to restrictions on confidentiality.
You can apply to exclude all or part of your documentation for public inspection if you're:
- a DA applicant
- the proponent submitting a revised Environmental Impact Statement, or
- a person who has made representations.
The Authority may approve or refuse these requests to exempt public register documents.
To exclude a document, the Authority must see that the part of the relevant document could:
- disclose a trade secret
- reasonably endanger the life or physical safety of a person, or
- reasonably lead to damage to, or theft of, property.
Part or all of a document will be excluded if a justice minister certifies it will:
- jeopardise national security including the operation of a organisation
- expose the public or staff of a security organisation to risk of injury, or
- risks property damage.
If only part of a document is excluded, a statement will be included on the publicly available copies of the relevant document.
