The Ginninderry project will provide residential, community and commercial development in a number of stages over the next 40 years in new suburbs in the ACT and NSW to cater for a population of 30,000 residents.

On 9 March 2018 Knight Frank Town Planning lodged an application for an EIS exemption under section 211B of the Planning and Development Act 2007 on behalf of Riverview Projects (ACT) Pty Ltd for Ginninderry Stage 2 and subsequent stages urban development at numerous blocks in Belconnen, Dunlop and MacGregor. The proposal includes:

  • residential, commercial, community, light industrial and other related urban development
  • infrastructure development including the proposed extension of Ginninderra Drive and improvements to existing local and arterial roads
  • the creation of the West Belconnen Conservation Corridor along the Murrumbidgee River and Ginninderra Creek, including construction of sewer tunnel, tourist and recreation facilities, and bushfire management measures.

In accordance with section 211H of the Planning and Development Act 2007, the EIS exemption was granted by the Minister for Planning and Land Management on 24 October 2018. In accordance with section 211I of the Planning and Development Act 2007, the EIS exemption application expires on 30 June 2067.
